After, what seemed like an eternal hiatus to some, it looks as one of Vancouver’s most renowned Live Music Venues is finally reopening.

The Yale Saloon, formerly known as “The Yale” is reopening this fall with completely new management, a fresh new menu and a fresh coat of paint, to say the least. Its been renovated from top to bottom and from what I’ve seen from pictures, the modifications will live up to it’s new Saloon title. It has the look and feel of something right out of the old west, minus the gunslingers.

It’s website, www.yalesaloon.com,  boasts a new slogan and an invite to follow their progress on it’s home page under the new name “The Yale Saloon, Country, Blues, BBQ”…..

Contemporary country cooking, no bull.

Ok, maybe just one bull.

THE YALE, REIMAGINED.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC THIS FALL.

(The “one bull” refers to a mechanical bull, with plans of bringing it out at least once a week)

According to the Matthew Gibbons, who belongs to the MRG Group, a company that owns and operates concert venues in Toronto, Los Angeles and Vancouver, the idea is to bring in all different genres of musical acts, local and touring, to play each week, which is great news for all of us who remember the Yale as being one of the best places in town for live Blues gigs.

Matthew also states, in an article from Van City Buzz, that the menu has had a complete overhaul and is now focused on being the best BBQ digs in town, adding a bit of “Southern Hospitality North of the 49” as the front windows read when looking across Granville Street at the 135 plus year old historic building.

So it looks like in the long run, it was worth the wait. I can think of a large group of musically inclined and musically enticed people that will be making this new treasure their favourite for the second time towards the end of 2015
